Headset 3.5mm jack replacement xo one wire colours

My son has worn out his XO one headset to the extent that the left headphone speaker would no longer work. I opted to buy a 4 pole 3.5mm jack and replace.

Thought it would be simple with 4 wires Left speaker, Right speaker Mic and ground but when cutting through wire i find only three wires which im stuggling to work out which is which.

At first it looks like you have 3 wires Red, Blue and Green. But that is just the colour of the wire insulation covering the main wires.

So if you split the insulated wires you are laft with Red, Green, Peach wires and there insulation Red, Blue and Green.

Can anybody explain which are speaker, mic and ground to attach to new jack.

XBOX Turtle Beach XO one headset wires are as follows - red wire L speaker inner core to pin 2 - outer red shell NEG COMMON pin 3, blue wire R speaker inner core to pin 1 - blue outer shell to NEG COMMON pin 3, MIC green inner core to outer pin 4 and green outer shell to COMMON pin 3. So to sum up, There are 3 wires inside the cable and each wire has a copper outer which are all the negatives with a shielded centre core that is the positives for all connections then you need to confirm pin contacts and your good to go. £2.49 for a 4 pin 3.5mm jack from Maplins happy soldering and saving £35 on a new headset for a whining son.

Also be sure to check for a foil covering inside of wire this is a ground connection if there

I believe the wires are as follows

but you may have to experiment a bit

Blue is Left

Green Right

Red is mic

Any other wire/foil would be the ground wire

Next question , where on the jack do i solder. Different companys use each ring on their jack plugs for different things. ground and mic generally mix up.

I have by trial and error got the headphones working but no combination of touching wires on jack solder points for mic works....still no mic.
