Tablet went dead and won't turn on

My device doesn't power on when I press the power button, and doesn't seem to be responding to anything. I tried connecting it to a charger, but to no avail. What potential issues might've caused my device to stop turning on?

Try plugging it into power and then press and hold Volume Up, Home, and Power at the same time. After a few seconds the Samsung Logo should appear. If it does not then I would say either the battery has gone bad or the charge port has.

Same here! Thanks!

But, it wouldn’t accept any input and shut off again. I suspect a bad charge port. Looks like I need a new tablet.

is it supposed to turn back off after?

will this factory reset it? i hope not

Someone may have accidentally put tablet into safe mode or power off mode.. You may need to open the back up and remove the battery to allow any residual power to drain away. I left my battery out for 30 minutes as I was told. Seems one of the kids put tablet into power off mode meaning I couldn't turn it on.. At first I thought the battery was gone. But using a voltage reader it showed the battery was at a healthy 4.30V. Back to Google I went.. Then I found this idea and voila.,

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I tried your tip and saved my Galaxy Tab. I thought I might have to buy a new battery and doubted it would be worth it due to the tab's age. Now, we have a new device for our kids to use for online school for the rest of the pandemic/social distancing. I am so glad you have posted this tip! Many thanks!

Press the power button, and hold it for several seconds. If the device does not power on, it's possible the battery is faulty and won't hold a charge. Connect the device to a power source and wait for several minutes. If there is no indication the device is charging, try charging the device using a different micro-USB cable and adapter.

Excelvan Q738 kids tablet…wouldn't turn on, but said fully charged while connected so I knew it wasn't a screen problem. Tried long pressing the power button…nothing. Then held power and volume up key until logo appeared..released the volume until reboot screen appeared …selected reboot and is now working fine

Scratch that. After removing the charger it went black and wouldn't turn back on. Connected charger...wouldn't turn back on without holding both power and volume up key. Did a device restore to factory settings...same thing.

I used suggestion for apple ipad even though mine is samsung. screen froze, audio worked, but could not leave app, or shut off. Then suddenly it went black on its own. I held down power and volume up buttons a bit, then it went on again. I went to settings and was informed that Tiktok app was eating away all my power, so had to be sure to shut off that app.

you may need to boot safe mode

Turn the device off.

  1. Press and hold the Power key.
  2. When Samsung appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  3. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  4. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.

Same thing happened to my galaxy tab 3. I fixed it by carefully removing the back cover (not for the faint of heart) and disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. The white battery connector has 6 wires going to it and lifts straight up and off 6 itty bitty pins. After a few minutes pop the battery connector back on. Don’t put the back cover back on yet. Plug the charger in and charge the tablet for 30 minutes. Then try turning the tablet on. It should turn on as usual. Carefully replace the back cover and make sure to snap the edges down all around. Fully charge the tablet. Don’t forget to re-enter your wifi passwords and reset the date and time or you won’t be able to access the web. Good luck.
