advertiser puts his spam in my calendar

This W W W . U G G T A . C О M managed to put their advertising in my calendar. My anti-virus Symantec Endpoint protection did not pick it up. Does anyone know how to get it out or where it is located or what I need to do to protect myself from this unwanted invasion?

I'm running Sierra

I use the free MalwareByte Anti-Malware to remove adware from Macs, those that cause multiple tabs to open when you are trying to browse. Could it work for you too? I just had a customer mention he has this issue on his iPhone while while we were working on his computer, but we did not have time to work on it. He is dropping by soon.

@rany In general I try to stay away from free programs as most are viruses themselves. What was unusual on this one is that it placed it in my calendar.

The MalwareByte seems legit. From experience, it works well to remove adware and hasn't caused any issues that I am aware of.

Hey @mayer, it looks like Apple has apologized for this issue and is actively working to fix it.

Here's a Gizmodo article on how to stop getting calendar notifications.

Yes, that's the problem! Nice that Apple has apologized. It would be even nicer if they actually fixed it with a security update. Thanks for finding this ;-)

Well it's not an answer per se but looks like a lot of others are having the same issue. I subscribed to Reddit so maybe someone will find out.

@lpfaff1 That link is good but more for iOS. I did try going to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Calendars and saw no requests for access.
