Display going black intermittently and proximity sensor not working

Hi,

I just had the screen replaced on my wife's iPhone 6. Prior to the replacement everything was working fine and now after the replacement the screen goes black every so often (typically between 1-5 mins). The phone is still functioning and the back light is still coming through. I then need to lock and unlock the phone which the screen comes back on for a while. I have also noticed that the proximity sensor no longer works since the replacement as well.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Daniel

Take it back to where you got it repaired from if you got it repaired by someone else.

It's most likely a bad screen and you should get them to fix it without any charge to you as you would of paid for it.

I did get someone to replace the screen and I took it back to them and they looked at it and said that there is no issue with the screen as they tested another screen on it and still had the issue. They claimed it was a board level issue and that he couldn't do board repairs and told me somewhere to take it to get board level work done but I am not entirely convinced so was wondering if anyone else had any alternative suggestions before I take it to them.

Was the phone working fine before then like had display and just cracked LCD? If it was no display or had the issue before the repair then the repair technician is probably right unfortunately.

I have a feeling they have given you a bad LCD and do not want to own up just because they want to not honor warranty issues.

Maybe take it to another store and get them too look at it.

I don't always trust the main stores inspection but I do of course take it back to where I got it repaired from first then get it inspected at another store and see what they also say.

My wife had been using the phone fine for a couple of months after it cracked and everything worked fine. Think I might try somewhere else to test the screen and see what they conclude.

After a lot of research I decided to replace the display and proximity sensor myself and can't believe what the guy who had replaced it initially had done.

He had lost 2 screws, put a long screw where a short one should be, left a loose screw in the phone and also hadn't removed the plastic protective film off the back of the display before installing it. We also had him replace the battery which he replaced but didn't use any adhesive to secure it in place.

I replaced the proximity sensor and display anyway and phone is fully functional again, just thought I would post this here in case anyone else finds a similar problem.

You should get some double sided tape to keep the battery in place. The battery cable or volume button cable may get damaged from friction from battery.

The screen might not be attached properly.
