Why doesn't the top cover over the water pump fit back together with t

I have a red colored Keurig Hot Coffee machine,it's more of a basic model with the handle being silver color but rounded in shape not squared, i went through all the steps of "cleaning/flushing" the machine because the water flow was clogged up with coffee grounds. i got everything put back to together no problem _{but now i can't get the handle to close down all the way into the "K-cup area,i turned the machine upside down to get those little screws screwed back in properly to the cover that goes over the water pump on top} but now i can't the lid to close like it did before. Help ! Please. Sorry i don't know the model name, i've only purchased this coffee machine about a month ago, new, from QVC. thanks Kirsten Peck
