Samsung Gear Live not turning on

Hello!

Despite my efforts, my Gear Live watch is refusing to turn on. I've gone through customer support and achieved no success (obviously, that's why I'm here) except the offer to pay a fee and send it back which I might take up that offer but I would like to see if anyone else has the same problem or any solutions before I shell out money for that.

So far I've:

-Let it sit on a wall charger for 24 hours

-let it sit connected to my laptop for about the same amount of time

-cleaned off the charger and contact points on the back of the watch, no corrosion to either (in fact, the watch is in nearly new condition minus my numerous fingerprints :P)

-tried three different cables and wall chargers

- opened up the watch, reseated the battery, put it back together and tried again, still to no avail

- opened it again, took out a multimeter, got nothing the first time charging it, second time after charging it, it showed .3 volts.

-today I'm going to do something someone on Reddit suggested in taking off a connector and setting it on a charger

I'm at a loss as it looks as if it were just bought from the store, no damage or anything to the watch anywhere and it didn't seem to show damage from water or sweat. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

@marioawe ,Thomas, The battery may be faulty, check it again with out charging as you have done that enough, check to see if battery is still holding 3+ volts. Also see if charger is putting out power with your DVOM. Find below a guide below, to show how to tear down the watch so you can carefully remove all connections and clean and reseat them. Use a Qtip/soft rag dampened with 90% Isopropyl Alcohol to clean contacts, work gently not to dislodge delicate components. Good luck.

@lpfaff1 & @anubisgodd Just checking the charger, it's getting a constant 1 volt, the battery is getting .3 volts (forgot the decimal in my original post...oops) , and just for kicks, I tested the contacts on the back of the watch, I get .089 volts. Is there anything I'm missing?

Update: Tried holding the power button on, it flashed the boot "Samsung gear live" screen for 1-1.5 seconds and then....died again. Any ideas as to what is the problem?

Thomas, If battery is charging, which it appears it is and contacts are all clean, the board must have a defect if not willing to power on.

I got it to power on for about 1 second which gives me a little hope but is still disheartening as it wont turn back on. My original thought was that it was a defect but since it powered on once but then crashed...maybe its the battery??

Thomas Young , I also kept leaning towards you trying a new battery, if inexpensive and you do not mine giving it a go, it may be worth trying. Just a thought did you try charging through computer and mini USB or just the dock, may be worth trying the other method. Good luck.

I agree with L Pfaff, normally I'd use a soft toothbrush with the alcohol to clean the contacts. Of course make the the brush is clean before gently cleaning the contacts for the battery and any other you have access to. Good luck buddy.
