Bluetooth is a standard so one really doesn't need to worry about who's chip is in your phone.
More often its the revision of the Bluetooth service your phone has that might impact you on what Bluetooth device you are trying to connect to it. In your case the HTC 10 offers v4.2, A2DP, aptX connectivity.

What is it you are trying to connect to your phone? Sometimes you can encounter issues within the phones OS where a driver is needed or an app to leverage the features of the connected device. Correction to the previous post. The manufacture of the Bluetooth module DOES have relevance to the quality of your connection and which devices will operate well with it. Although there is a standard, there are specific variances within manufactures that can cause issues when attempting to utilize Bluetooth for things other than pairing to speakers or headphones.
