@liner like @lpfaff1 already pointed out, we need the model number (and make if it is not a Kenmore) of your washer to help you with this.

I have the same issue with my Kenmore 400 series model 22102. When I hold cancel or unplug, it won’t reset and remains locked.

par

My lid lock keep on flashing then the light will turn off and the washer would still keep on going but it didn't wash all the close right I have a whirlpool h e washer model # wtw4950xw2

My Amana washer was doing this. I solved by sticking my finger down the hole just inside the lid. This is the hole where the metal tab on the lid goes into the hole so that the washer can sense that the lid is closed. When I placed my finger in the hole, I immediately heard a 'click,' and the 'lid locked' light went off. Now the washer works!

Thank you for all the comments!! I just unplugged the machine for 10 seconds then plugged back it back in, that worked!!! Yay!!🥰

@liner , Caroline, You did not state your model#. Sounds like it could be a faulty lid switch. Info from link below.

What Can Cause The Lid Light To Flash On My Top Load Washing Machine:

– Lock striker that presses down on the lid switch may be out of alignment.

– A piece of lint or washing machine detergent has built up over time and hinders the locking of the lid.

– The control board sees an open lid switch when it attempts to lock.

– The lid switch is not working either mechanically or electrically and needs to be adjusted or replaced.

– The control board is faulty and is unable to detect if lid lock is locked.

– Actuator motor is faulty or has loose wiring (If washer is VMW = Vertical Modular Washer).

How To Fix The Lid Lock Light Flashing On My Top Load Washer:

– Be sure lid lock and lid striker are clean as lint or detergent buildup can block the switch and cause the flashing light.

– Be sure the lid lock and lid striker are aligned and secure as they can become loose from years of vibration or slamming the washer lid shut.

– Check to make sure the lid lock and lid striker are making contact with each other when the washing machine lid shuts, if not the lid lock light will flash.

– Check the wire harness connections from the lid switch to the main control assembly as it may have become loose or the wire harness may be damaged.

– If all checks out, be sure the lid switch is in working order (mechanically and electrically) replace if necessary.

– Check the Actuator motor to be sure it is not faulty or has loose wiring (If washer is VMW = Vertical Modular Washer).

If not wanting/comfortable working on electric appliances, have a good local repairman have a look/diagnose/estimate repair. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

I un-pluged the washing machine from its power source and plugged it back in. The flashing light stayed off, pressed start, lid locked and everything seems to be normal in the current load of clothes.

I have the similar issue. It runs fine for a load or two; then I'll go to start another load, everything lights up, but I cannot get it to start unless I unplug it for a few minutes. We replaced the control panel, but it made no difference....I'm just short $250 dollars.

par

Lmao Sofia Hernandez, Thank You. I almost did the more difficult suggestions and glad I came across Yours....One good SLAM & it works.

par

I tried everything on here and slamming the lid shut worked. This was my second washer with the same issue

I've replaced with new actuator, clutch drive and lid lock switch and lock light still flashing. It started and agitated but wouldn't spin. I replaced actuator & still same problem. I then replaced drive clutch and still wouldn't work. This is when lid lock light flashing and wouldn't start at all. I just replaced with new lid lock switch wiring and new striker. Lock light still flashing and not starting. I've unplugged machine for 20 minutes and reset in diagnostic mode. What else could it be. Whirlpool washer model wtw4915ew2. Any idea what it could be? Had machine about 6 years.

I had the same issue with my whirlpool but I just slammed the lid shut, & it got rid of the lid lock flashing light. I'm now running my load without problems! :))

Yep, about at that point!

Took completely apart 3 times.

Cleaned tub, basket, etc. Checked pump, it's o.k. hoses, o.k. Changed out the lock lid switch. Original problem, it was not spinning/draining completely, had to use the spin/drain cycle a second time. Lid lock light flashing. Sometimes locks, solid light, tilt starts, stops. If I press the stop/pause again, sometimes a couple of times, starts.

But always wet clothes, as if the cycle doesn't complete yet days done. I

I have the same exact problem. Changed out several parts and still not working. Did you get yours fixed?

I kept pushing the start/pause button and after about 10 pushes, the Pause and Lid Locked lights just took turns flashing between the two. Turned knob to a different cycle and pressed the start button and it started working as normal.

The same thing happened to me...cycle was set at Quick Wash, lights would come on, pressed start and all normal. Lid Lock light would be steady, start flashing, and turn off...a few seconds later, it would come on and stay on. But water would never start...I tried everything I knew and nothing solved the problem...until I switched cycles. Machine now running normally on different cycle than Quick Wash.

par

I fixed it by rotating the washer dial many many times, occasionally pressing the start/pause button and suddenly the lid lock flashing stopped and the machine seemed to work again! But during spin the problem occurred again so I had to have a technician come to replace the sensor and it worked again!!!

what sensor? name it please....

@ohyikes What sensor??

My washer (Whirlpool Cabrio WTW5500XW0) was doing the same thing. Eventually, slamming the lid didn’t work. These guys were a big help: https://www.appliancepartspros.com/repai...

It was either the Shift Actuator or the Lid Latch. They said 52% of the time it was the Shift Actuator. I replaced that and it fixed the problem. Good Luck.

Same stupid problem here. I even did the diagnostic and it told me i needed to replace the cam and pully so i did and did another diagnostic test and I still have the same blinking lights telling me the cam pully needs to be replaced. UGH!!! I think this washer is a POS and the whole series/model needs to be removed and discontinued! Same problems for everyone. How can a washer continue to be manufactured and sold when everyone who has them experience the same stupid problems?!?!? Isn’t this grounds for RECALL?? And of course the problem doesn’t start until the warranty is expired. Seems like perfectly scheduled timing to me…just a scam to get more money out of us.

I have noticed that if i let the washer sit long enough, it’ll just start where it left off. Which would be fine if i only needed one load washed and had all %#*@ day to do it.

I’m having kinda diffrent issue I have a ge profile. My boyfriend lift was !#^&@@ off and he lifted up the lid while it was going because he wanted to hurry up and stop so it actually broke the little lead sensor thing so then I tried to fix it because I have clothes up to the ceiling and he’s not here and um it’s actually him that the little there’s like a little copper spindle of thread on there or something I don’t know what that is motor or something I don’t know but that little plastic piece of that did that motors connected you or whatever that is the whole piece right there is just hanging around in there and a little Spindle thing fell out so it’s in the bottom of the washer I don’t know what to do. is there any way to bypass it when it’s like that or do I just have to get someone to come and fix it?
