Dirty Keyboard Flat A1278 2012

Hello,

I have a Macbook Pro 2012 A1278

A year and half ago I little bit of spilled coffee on it.

TODAY

I decided to opened it to clean the LOGIC BOARD and all components just to make it CLEANER to keep working for longer.

HOWEVER

When I was removing BOTH the keyboard and keyboard light RIBBONS and it was so hard to pull it from the CLIP.

BUT

I did remove, then I cleaned the BOARD and everything looked really GOOD TO GO.

NOW

Everything is 100% in place except the KEYBOARD AND LIGHT ribbon that doesn't GO inside the CLIP.

I tried to force a little bit but I am AFRAID to break something.

WHAT CAN I DO?

Use WD40?

Heat?

Anything else?

It is just DIRT that is kind of glued inside of it.... I can't even see it because it is inside the CLIP.

@jimfixer @mayer

Sure I LIFT the leavers. However it is DIRT inside because coffee spilled a YEAR AND A HALF ago.

I will try to use alcohol and a toothbrush.

HOWEVER

How about BAKE the BOARD? Would it MELT the dirt?

par

Never bake a board! You have absolutely no control. Your oven is not precise enough, you don't know at what temperature the solder flows. Even if it flows it is melting the rest of the board. Any fix would be pure chance. Use a hot air work station and put the heat where it is needed and you will be able to SEE it flow.

Heat will not likely help here and as @mayer said baking doesnt provide a reliable temp you could end up doing more damage to solder joints . soaking the joint working it with a soft toothbrush are your best options . You can also use compressed air to aid in the cleaning
