How do I fix my battery?

I recently had a new battery put in my HTC One M8. Now when I plug in the charger the charge indicator light is flashing orange and the battery icon with the lightning bolt is displayed on the screen. I took the phone apart and rechecked all the connections. They are all securely plugged in. I just ordered a new charging port, but I really need this phone to work in the mean time. I cannot get the phone into the reboot menu either. I thought maybe the battery partition may need reset. Please help.

Options

To calibrate an Android device battery without root access

Discharge your phone fully until it turns itself off.

Turn it on again and let it turn itself off.

Plug your phone into a charger and, without turning it on, let it charge until the on-screen or LED indicator says 100 percent. Unplug your charger. This site offers other solutions that might be helpful

None of these are working because the phone isn't turning on. The new battery does not appear to be charging. Thank you for your advice. Once I get this thing to turn it on I will try to calibrate the phone.

The cord seems to be loose when I plug it into my phone. I do have a new charging port ordered. I just need to get this thing to charge asap.

Fixed loose battery...

I ha've an HTC phone the battery was loose from dropping it and kids so I put double sided tape on the back piece of the phone and it sits on the battery keeping the negative and positive connected now it just stays on before I had to hold it tight to keep it on now problem fixed. Hope this helps anyone dealing with the same issue.
