Hi Eddie,

There certainly are risks with any repair you carry out on a phone.

But, you're on this site for a reason!

Here's a list of things that could happen:

- Logic board damage, from prying up connectors incorrectly.

- Slipping with a screw driver and knocking capacitors off.

- Piercing the battery, causing it to burst in to flames.

- Putting screws in the wrong place and causing damage to the logic board, by crushing traces in the logic board.

- Blowing the backlight on your phone, by not unplugging the battery first, before you remove the screen connectors or reconnect them.

New batteries don't tend to cause damage to your phone, the only thing that can happen is a faulty battery.

If you have any other questions let me know. :-)

+1 - Darn it Ged, you beat me to it by 22 seconds :>)!

@eddiegod the only thing I would add is to buy from a reputable supplier. iFixit batteries are very good and they stand behind their products. Be wary of low-cost batteries on eBay or Amazon.

I do try @refectio haha

Yes, I agree, try purchase from a reputable place with a good warranty.

I purchase original quality batteries that come with 12 months warranty from replacebase in the UK.

And not a problem @eddiegod it's what this site is for!

Do you mean repair or replace?

You SHOULD NEVER EVEN ATTEMPT to repair a battery without an extreme level of knowledge about what your doing.

iPhones use a type of battery cell called a lithium ion battery, and the metal in the battery burns when it comes into contact with OXYGEN, to repeat it will burst into flames if regular air touches it.

However.

if you only wish to replace your battery ifixit has a guide that can be found here:
