Can I buy a 250GB and install it and work
I have the new 4gb xbox 360S with kinect for christmas and want to buy a 250gb hard drive and install it , is that possible?

This is what I got Yes, you can upgrade to the 250GB hard drive provided by Microsoft. There are not any other officially sanctioned hard drive upgrades at this time. You can find after-market upgrades, but they are not sanctioned by Microsoft and are likely to get your console banned if detected. They do sell a 250 GB upgrade drive for the 360 S 4GB, this is the largest drive available at this time and costs $130, if you upgrade to any other drive you can potentially damage the 360 S because the drive bay requires a special drive holder to keep the drive in place. It is my understanding that the HDD in the old and new 360s are the same, just with a different casing. This site has more info on that topic http://www.justpushstart.com/2010/06/17/... REPLACING YOUR DRIVE WILL NOT GET YOU BANNED.
In order to replace the drive you have to extract your serial key or "bin" off your hard drive or someone else's and use Hard Drive Hacker (Google it) to inject the serial "bin" key to the drive.
It's a real pain in the arse. And you will wish you have just bought a drive afterwards. But yes it can be done, and you will not get banned

You can actually use a Had drive from the phat xbox 360 you just have to take apart the hard drive case and pull out the SATA hard drive inside. The trickiest part is getting the hard drive lined up to properly connect into the slim console. You can connrct the hard drive without the drive caddy part but then the hard drive will just be plugged in to the plastic connectors and will hang down just a little bit inside the case but will be fine as long as you are gentle when you move your console.

you can also use 8 GB flash drives at five below but make sure you get at least above 12 GB of extra storage so it does downloading and other stuff properly.
