Haptic Feedback stopped working after keyboard replacement

Hi everyone!

After 5 long hours of work and help from IFixIt's users, I managed to replace only my MacBook's keyboard instead of the entire top case.

But, now I have another issue, which came after my keyboard's replacement: my trackpad's haptic feedback stopped working after the disassembly and reassembly. The force touch works, multi-touch gestures recognizing pressure and etc, but the feedback doesn't, at all.

On the process, I didn't notice any physical damage to the trackpad (I only touched the trackpad to take the batteries and cover plate off). The flat cable and the connector are OK, disconnected and reconnected them again, as well. No success.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Have you checked the trackpad settings, there is a way to adjust the haptic feedback. Also try an SMC and NVRAM reset. I have never come across this issue (unless the trackpad is completely not working), but it's possible the keyboard may be causing the issue? Try unplugging the keyboard and seeing if it works.

Check the trackpad board to make sure there is no damage or a slight rip in the cable. The cable should be fine however, since you would have peeled this off before removing the battery.

Hi again! Yea, checked the haptic feedback strength on system preferences (I use BetterTouchTool and tried to mix the settings too), nothing happens. Also, it doesn't give me any feedback on the user login screen or the Recovery partition.

Tried SMC and NVRAM reset also, nothing.

Opened my MacBook again to replace my backlight (since the one I purchased has a bad quality), checked the trackpad again, with a magnifying glass, and it's perfect! No physical damage. No damage to the cable and motherboard connector.

I didn't try unplugging the keyboard though. Will try this next and let you know here. Thanks!

Thought about something: are the trackpad's components sensitive to the heat used to remove the batteries?

@caiog I have never used heat to remove the batteries, generally batteries themselves shouldn't be heated (I use isopropyl and a long tool to cut through the adhesive).

I wouldn't have thought it would affect the trackpad unless it was a lot of heat. Try unplugging the keyboard first, then a new trackpad.
