Butterfly key mechanism (MBP 2017) any different to previous model?

Some MBP Touch Bar 2016 users have reported keyboard issues e.g. stuck keys, non-responsiveness.

The control/option keys on the MBP 2017 seem to have gained new markings.

However, are the butterfly mechanisms in the 2017 model different to the 2016 models? Have they been updated?

Can't seem to find any answers to this. Thanks!

Thanks Dan! Though if they tweaked it then it's not the same... I guess I meant to ask: has anyone with knowledge of the MBP 2016 had a look under the keys of the 2017 ones? Are the keys/mechanisms between the models swappable?

It's the same butterfly design!

Apple might have tweaked it a bit to fix the sticking keys issue. It could also haven been Apple had a QC issue with the first run of the keyboard assembly.

I too am not thrilled with the newer butterfly design. Between the noise and the low travel I find my rest position fires them off prematurely. Granted I was at an Apple Store and had not used it for more than a few minutes.

If you are thinking the older 2015 keyboard would work in either the 2016 or 2016 models sadly from the images from the IFIXIT tear-downs shows they are not the same.

If you have a crappy 2016 model and are looking to get the keyboard replaced I wouldn't sit back here waiting! Run the the Apple Store or Apple authorized service center to have it replaced under warranty.
