Replacing 500GB HDD with 1TB SSD - Managing the thermosensor issue?!

Dear Experts,

I promise I checked all answers in the forum but I couldn't find what I'm looking for. In case I missed it please apologise and kindly send me the link.

I want to replace the 500GB HDD of my a. m. iMac with a 1TB SSD (e. g. Samsung EVO or similar). I understand this isn't trivial because of the propriatary thermosensor issue and also SW solutions to control the fans after upgrading isn't a perfect solution. I want to fully replace the HDD and not create a dual hard drive system by replacing the optical drive with an SSD. I did this with my iMac 27" some years ago. This was ok but I would prefer a 100% SSD system this time.

Is there in the meantime any hardware solution on the market managing the thermosensor issue and making my dream come true? E. g. somehting like a 3.5" mounting cage for the 2.5" SSD or another HW adapter where also the thermosensor can be connected and controlled w/o dependency on a fan control app which might not be compatible with the next OS update aanymore?

Thank you very much for your appreciated advice and support.

Cheers, Andreas

You might as well get the OWC 2.5" to 3.5" Drive Adapter Bracket when you order the in-line sensor.

Dear mayer and Dan,

Thank you very much for your very swift responses. Great! That OWC adapter seems tb exactly what I#m looking for. One additional question - do ou know wheter it only works with OWC SSDs or also other brands such as e. g. Samsung EVO?

Once again thank you very much!

Cheers, Andreas

@sneckerich - It works with any SATA drive (HD, SSHD or SSD) I've used it with Samsung EVO drives with no issues.
