after lcd and digitizer replacement, home button no worky

Home button was working fine before the repair, even with a severely shattered screen. New ifixit parts went in nice and smooth, everything work now except the home buttons. My digitizer and lcd cables are fully seated (no white lines) and locked down. Any ideas guys? Bad home button on new digitizer.

Is there a way to electrically test the circuit that simulates what happens when the home button is pushed (i.e causing continuity between the two gold posts on the dock connector. By shorting out the two gold posts in the dock connector that should simulate pushing the home button (which does just that). If I short the gold posts together and dont get any home button "response", am I then to assume that my dock connector ribbon cable assy is faulty?

You can test the home button on the digitizer glass by using a multimeter and checking for contenuity while pressing the home button down.

You can also take the home button from the digitizer assembly and place it on the two connection points on the charging assembly and see if it responds there.

If you can't get it to work at all then the home button is faulty.

You kinda answered your own question.

Either the home button is not aligned properly to the two gold contacts on the charging port home button connector or it's just faulty.

You can use the home button from the old screen but it requires realignment and may also need more adhesive for it to stick on properly without home button dipping in.

I shorted out the two gold pins on the dock connecter with the ipad on, no home button "response" occured. Looking more like the dock connector is the culprit unless I'm missing something else to check. Thanks for all the pointers fellas!
