The video associated with this repair guide
says that I will only need the front panel assembly to complete the repair. The repair guide itself says that I will need the front panel assembly as well as adhesive strips and digitizer magnets. Which should I follow?

Most digitizers come with adhesive pre-installed. Personally, I think they are not good enough quality and they should be replaced with something better (Look at TapeTemplates or BlowerTech adhesives). As for the magnets, they need to be transferred over from the damaged digitizer to the new one.
