Be VERY AWARE of chinese sellers on eBay trying to pass off iPhone 7 Plus screens for iPhone 8 Plus. They nearly look identical.

7 has hooks at the top and 8 has metal brackets

They looks similar but they can't work well on each other or say it not full functioning on each other,

No, you wouldn't be able to interchange displays between generations of iPhones. The 8 uses a 3 channel, temperature sensitive light sensor.
The 7 uses a single channel, light only sensitive sensor.
The ribbon cables are also likely different.

Yes you can put the iPhone 8 + digitizer on a 7+ iPhone.
And it will work just fine, only the display.
You need to use the orignal homebutton and sensor/frontcam cable.
The screws in the bottom wont fit unfortuanately
