What size SSD will fit in the Dell N5050?

I want to replace my HHD with a SSD. Does the standard size of a SSD fit in the N5050?

Thanks for answering, sorry if it is a stupid question!

One word of warning, check the power specs of the SSD before you buy.

I replaced the Hard disk on my MacBook Pro with an SSD that was rated for a power draw of 2 amps on the 5v rail. battery life was poor after that, and there's no way to know if that excessive draw burned something out, causing it to no longer power up at all.

I only found out after it died and I had to use a USB adapter capable of handling desktop drives in order to retrieve my data. (Laptop drives that could be powered over USB 2.0 alone were all rated .75 to 1 amp)

Additionally 2.5" hard drives come in several thicknesses. Most common nowadays are 9.5mm and 12mm. most HDD form-factor SSDs are 9.5mm. Many will come with a piece of plastic that you can attach with adhesive to the top if the SSD has room to rattle around in it's bay.

Tim downing - Who’s SSD did you use that had this problem?

You can use any standard 2.5” SSD drive that support SATA II (3.0 Gb/s)

Awesome, thanks everyone! I'll take the laptop apart to see the specifics of the hard drive cage. Thanks for all the help!
