Lightning Dock Connector no longer accepts charging cable

The Ligntning Dock Connectior in my 16GB iPad Air (1474) will no longer accept the charging cable. When inserted, it never "clicks" into place and pops back out again.

The cable works fine with my iPhone 5S.

For what it's worth -- it turns out my problem was apparently common to the charging port on the iPhone -- pocket lint!

The exception was in my case, the lint was deposited on the SIDES of the port, not the depth.

Cleaning out the depth didn't do the trick, but when I scraped the sides of the port, the "stuff" came loose and could be blown out.

Primary tool -- a plastic dental-floss pick! Just the right size and stiff enough to scrape with, but not too stiff to bugger contacts !

(Having been retired for 12 years now, my days of micro-soldering are beyond my field of vision. Thanks for the pointers.)

You need a new charging port. Downside is it needs to be soldered onto the logic board. I know @refectio and @teetop do board level work
