Device keeps rebooting even after factory reset.

Hi, my mom had a Galaxy S3 mini on verizon for about a year and a half then it started rebooting and freezing at the verizon screen at complete random. At first it was every once in a while but it progressively got worse over time. She has sense changed to a Galaxy S4 on verizon and i am attempting to troubleshoot what is wrong with the S3 mini. I have already tried a factory reset on the device and even that gave me trouble as when i pressed factory reset it sat on rebooting for quite a while. eventually it did reset but it did not Fix the issue.

Options

Try to upgrade firmware first.

If the device reboot continuously might be the fault of power switch check it.

If all doing that the fault is same that the fault of EMMC chip,Most of the Samsung i saw that have emmc chip faults.

Its not the power button as what happens is that what ever your doing it completely freezes and then it goes black and then all of a sudden you see it booting back up but it freezes at the verizon screen and you have to pull the battery and try again. Do you know where i can get a Verizon S3 Mini Firmware that wont screw up the device?

you can download the firmware by samfirmware.com by upgrade by the use of odin downloader.

ok and what would i do if i brick the device?

i have some good news. i flashed the phone and it seems to be working better. i will conduct further testing and report back after letting it run over night to see if it does it.

Options

Download ODIN Samsung flashing software. Make sure you also download the correct ROM for your phone. Then connect phone to pc with software on and flash it this will fix all software related problems. If it doesn't you will have a hardware fault.

ok now question Where do i get the Firmware to flash it? i have ODIN but no firmware for the phone. It is a Verizon Galaxy S3 mini

Try samfirmware or look for the firmware on gsm forum a lot of the files are on there.
