Used Replacement SSD is not Recognized in Disk Utility
Hello everyone,
After trying to fix the MacBook (A1708 EMC 2978) of my Aunt (which had water damage) I declared it to an total loss for now so I bought an replacement LogicBoard (which works fine) and a replacement SSD of Ebay because I bought the remaining MacBook bits off of her so I can thinker with them :-).
But here comes the Problem, the used SSD is not recognized! :-( Here's an copy and paste of an comment I wrote to someone on this forum (laziness strikes again):
"I have an EMC 2978 MacBook with an 820-00875-01 LogicBoard. I tried to use an used SSD of the Internet for this model and it doesn't work. The SSD Model is: 656-0044A. I am currently typing on this MacBook by Booting and using it over an External Drive I had laying around."
The drive get's also warm. Terminal says "No CoreStorage logical volume groups found" after writing diskutil cs list or it doesn't find any drives when I just type diskutil list. Also Disk Utility doesn't recognize any drive (other then my external one).
Anyone know what might be the problem here?

So the SSD works when connected in an external drive enclosure?
If you connect the original HD to the new logic board, is the original HD seen?
