Trackpad unresponsive
At times the cursor barely moves and then with the same gesture it takes off as it should

Known issue of movement (flexing) of the ribbon cable (underneath the keyboard) that runs across the top of the battery.
Remove the battery, flip the book upside down. Press the cable that runs through the slot in the wall flat, sometimes people shim the cable with a folded sticky note.
If this doesn't change anything also look at the connection point to be sure it hasn't pulled loose. The connector is a pressure lock, it flips up/down.

Done! Many thanks for the tip about the cable/shim. The trackpad is now responding as it should.
