Are there different internal hard drive connectors?
just received a Seagate Momentus XT (Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS 500GB) to replace the internal drive. The original is also a Seagate Momentus 7200.2 (ST9200420ASG - 200GB). This is a 2.5 GHz early 2008 core2duo machine.
In order to copy the whole data to the new drive (with CCC), so I tried to use an external case (LaCie Porsche, fw400) equiped with an Hitachi Travelstar.
What was my surprise to discover the hard drive connector is not the same. The Hitachi has a connector with a double row of pins (about 40 I guess), and the new Seagate Momentus XT has flat gold plated connector divided in 2 parts.
I didn't know the connectors had changed. Or are there different kinds of laptop drives, with different connectors. I searched on Seagate's site: there is no mention of connectors on their technical papers for this drive series. Puzzled: what to do?
Second question: I did not open the Macbook pro yet, but what kind of connectors does it have for its hard drive?
Thanks a lot for your help
