Home button doesn't work after a dip in a puddle?
I dropped my phone in a puddle and removed it immediately. Unfortunately it was submerged for a few seconds and was on at the time. After I took it out of the puddle I powered it down and let it dry for a week. Everything is working fine now except the home button doesn't work and I have to power down and restart to move between functions or applications. Does anyone have any thoughts before I tackle this problem? I'm thinking about what tools and parts I most likely need to fix this problem. Thanks for any input.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm new to this so let me ask, if I need to replace the Flex (Home Button Flex Ribbon Cable?) then am I correct that I'll need to purchase the tools necessary to remove the front panel?

you should only need a suction cup. you can improvise by putting a long length of packing tape on screen and then folding it over itself near the home button so you have a tab to pull on. (suction cup is by far the easier way and you can buy them anywhere)
you'll also need a small philips head screwdriver- no idea of the size but I'll put the links in and the tools are listed. Remplacement de l'écran complet de l'iPhone 3G
don't be too hasty to accept my answer... we might not have sorted it yet
