My engine just quit and wouldn't start again, the starter just made a clicking noise
I had it towed to a shop and they said it was a timing chain without checking the car out.

Mhm, well since there is very little data provided, I'm going to say it's probably a dead battery mixed with a dead alternator. Usually what happens in these cases, is the alternator dies, the car is no longer self-sufficient the battery dies from powering your plugs and internal lights and all. The car will then quit, since you starter is clicking that means most likely the car has enough power to engage it, but not enough to make it turn over. But! This is just a guess from the short amount of info you have provided.

i only drove it about250 yards and when i went to turn right the engine just quit, and it wouldn't start again i towed it to a auto shop and they diagnosed it as a broken timing chain without doing any work on the car, it was always running good before this, and was a good working car . i always took care of the mechanical parts like lights, brakes, tires, and fluid levels and air cleaner and general maintenance.
i'LL HAVE A MECHANIC CHECK OUT THE STUFF YOU RECCOMMENDED AND LET YOU KNOW IF IT WAS THE PROBLEM.
Ok, thanks! I really hope it's not a timing chain. From the sound of it, the repair shop just wants your money. Be careful.
Best to get it scanned if you can and see what codes come up if any.
