Replace glossy display with hi-res anti glare?

I have a 2012 2.6GHz MBP with hi-res anti glare display. The motherboard died recently. Can I replace the mobo with one from a non-hi-res 2012 2.3GHz MBP?

Can you compare the model numbers of both motherboards to see if they match?

Hmm, the situation is that my MBP with the dead mobo was a 2.6GHz, and I have the opportunity to buy a 2.3GHz glossy MBP from which I would want to pull the mobo. I don't have a way to see the mobo model number of the 2.3GHz.

Yes, you can! But you'll want to replace it with the better board MacBook Pro 15" 2.7 GHz i7 (Mid-2012) as it had the deeper memory for the higher res your display can handle.

I have a chance to get a 2.3GHz mobo cheap, which would be a step down from the 2.6GHz board which died. Will the 2.3GHz work, or is the faster processor really necessary? Thanks!

Here's the specs for the MacBook Pro 15" 2.3 i7 2.6 (Mid-2012)

The issue is not the CPU speed its the GPU's memory depth:

* 2.3 GHz - NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512 MB of GDDR5 SDRAM

* 2.7 GHz - NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1 GB of GDDR5 SDRAM

Yes, the 2.3 GHz LB will also work. Depending on what you are doing you may miss the extra 512 MB of RAM.
