Post Display Replacement, what would cause the computer not to boot?

PowerBook G4 Aluminum 17" 22 1-1.67 GHz

Hello,

I just followed the guide to replace the display on the PBG4 17", prior to this replacement the computer was working fine(both on battery and A/C) connected to an external display.

I checked the logic board connector and the keyboard connector, tired re-seating them both, twice. If i pull the battery out and the A/C adapter, then put them both back it the light is amber. I then hit the power button and the light turns green, but nothing happens. It seems clear that the battery is getting charged, which I guess indicates it's not the DC-in?

I'm stumped.

Any suggestions as to what i could have done by accident, would be great.

Thanks for the responses and suggestions. After spending a good 2-3 hours checking cables against photos from guides, I'm not sure what I did. I tried the PMU suggestions, with no luck.

Not sure how to jump the logic board, but I probably just better call this a total fail and try to recoup some money for the parts.

Six hours and no answer. Maybe that's because there is no easy answer. Obviously you have done something wrong. I would take it completely down and rebuild it from the point that you got deepest into the machine. You've missed something or connected something incorrectly.

Thanks! i think i might have muffed the keyboard cable now that I took the entire thing apart. There is a small rip in it. Is there anyway to boot without keyboard as just a test?

Hi there...

Thought I'd 'chime-in' with this little thought of remedy.

(After) you've checked that every connector, every screw and everything ELSE is firmly and correctly placed, try this...

Replace the C-MOS battery.

I know it might sound too simple, but that's happened to me more often than you'd think!

IF that doesn't work, try a factory re-set of the CMOS pages (revert to factory setting) to see what that does for you.

If that's doesn't help, then there's a possibility that something else may be not connected correctly. Go over everything once more (patience) and I'm sure you'll discover the small error...

Good Luck
