50LF6000-UB - Screen flickers off and on constantly

Trying to help wife’s friend with her 2-1/2 year-old, 50” LG television… TV powers on and seems to work, with sound, etc. The screen constantly flickers off and on, regardless of the input or any changes in the menu. All of the LEDs flash off and on together in complete synchronization, every 1300ms. While they are on, the screen is visible and you can see the menu and other elements very clearly. Audio works all of the time.

Already tried: resetting TV to "initial settings," turning off "Energy Saver" mode, and I have also replaced the main power supply board with a new board, with no change or improvement. Measured standby voltage at 3.2V.

What else should I try? Are there more multimeter tests that would be helpful? Is it worth putting more $$ into this device?

Just noting that this TV did have a burned out, bad LED on one of the strips. I very carefully replaced the entire strip, and the backlight is now strong/steady.

Unfortunately, during the disassembly/reassembly process, something must’ve gone wrong because there is no picture onscreen anymore, at all. Before, when the backlights would blink on, you could see the LG menu and everything, very clear—no there is nothing onscreen, just a dull, dark glow. (And, audio still works…)

Anyone have a suggestion at this point, please? HELP!

The two ribbon cables from the T-con board into the screen are not aligning correctly. When disassembling, you would have disconnected one side of these small cables (2 of them). I found the same problem you did when I replaced all my LED back-lights and re-assembled the TV. The cables can be finicky. Reset the tv by holding the power button down for 15 to 20 seconds and you should have a picture. You just have to make sure the ribbon cables are seated in the the tiny connection bar correctly and reset the tv. I hope that helps.
