Would replacing just the glass on an iPhone X fix the touch issues.

I have an IPhone X, the screen is cracked bad, but the oled is in good condition. The phone is currently suffering from random things getting clicked on. I have the equipment to remove and replace just the top layer of glass which leads to my dumb question. Would replacing just the glass fix the touch issue?

If you do so have the experience and the proper equipment to do what you are asking then yes, replacing the glass should solve any “ghost touching” issues you have.

Is it logical, no. Is it possible, yes. You are likely to break something while trying to remove the glass and you may not even be able to re-install the screen properly and have it work normally. However, if you use extreme precision you might be able to pull this one off.

Well, my reasoning is to save myself about $196 for a new OEM OLED Display Assembly. I bought the phone for a very cheap price and want to see how cheaply I can repair it for. It's a personal challenge. I could easily replace it as I do every day, 6 days a week. I've taken the glass off of iPhone 6 screens and stuff but I've never completed a "just the glass" repair and was unfamiliar with what it will fix, such as the ghost touching. I assumed the ghost touching was done to the presumed pressure points caused by the glass being shattered. Just wanted to know if replacing the glass would fix that before I waste my time attempting it.

@kekoolkat The glass aka the digitizer is what registers touch, not the OLED display. In theory, your game plan should work if you have the right equipment and the right technique.

If I remembered correctly, iPhone X actually have separate touch sensor and display layers. If you have the right tools and skills, you can peel them away, but you need to unsolder the touch sensor from the flex cable after that.

It is very likely that the touch sensor got damaged when the screen cracked, necessitating replacement of both touch sensor and front glass.

I don't have equipment, I have watched a lot of videos on YouTube. It seems a little hard, for the right installation it needs 3 machines, for remove display, for align and glue screen and touch, and bubble remover. Another diy technique or machine only demostrates a bad quality repair. (They are on refurbish industry, they are on YouTube as rewa)

For me, is more affordable to buy a full display assembly because my repair shop is small and does not have iPhone x everyday.
