Touch id not working after replacement

So I bought a new phone. I tried to switch my home button over to my new phone from my old phone and found the Touch ID won’t work. I then decided to switch the home buttons back to the original phone they came with and still get an error while trying to activate Touch ID. The home button works fine it just won’t pick up Touch ID. If anyone could give an explanation or solution It would be greatly appreciated. I just got this iPhone and I already ruined it…

Home button is permanently paired to the logic board, swapped buttons will not have Touch ID.

Try a forced restart, or a forced iOS reinstall. If Touch ID still don’t work after all this, you’ve torn the cable somehow.

I’ve tried the force restart and no response. I’ve tried deleting everything on my iPhone and starting it as new and says it cannot pick up Touch ID. Home button works fine.

The deepest level of reinstall iOS is DFU mode. It will try to reset every chip that contains software. Before you try that, make sure the phone is not iCloud locked with someone else's account and the cellular radio works, otherwise the phone won't survive DFU, or after DFU, you can't get through the activation screen.

If you're sure you never damaged the original home button, and it looks all in tact, and cleaned on the connector, and the logic board pins are clean.

Then possibly, the LCD backplate which contains the flex cable for the home button could be damaged. It's worth replacing that. If not, then you'll need someone who is God at micro soldering, to transfer the components over to a new home button, which can be very tricky without damaging the new home button flex.

Touch ID worked completely fine until after replacing them, then changing them back. I was ignorant and thought that I could switch the home buttons because it “looked better” but what you’re saying is just buy another phone?
