problem with an enclosure sensor

hello.

at the beginning I want to apologize for any possible language mistakes, because I'm from Poland, and english isn't my mother tongue, so you know :)

I've got problems with an enclosure sensor. when I start my MacBook after system loading it falls asleep. I can use it only thank to a software (Insomniax & Caffeine). but when a MacBook wakes up, I cannot change a backlight (it's implicitly set at the highest level). but sometimes MacBook doesn't want to fall asleep and then I can regulate a backlight.

do you have any ideas about that? what's wrong with a hardware?

thank you in advance.

greets from Poland, my friends :)

Sounds like your PRAM or SMC. Try resetting the PRAM.

I found this link at could guide on the PRAM setting and SMC.

http://allnewmac.wordpress.com/2009/06/2...

PRAM resetting:

To reset the PRAM, reboot the computer and hold the options-command-P-R keys at the same time.

The computer will chime, and then continually reset and chime while these keys are held. Allow it to cycle a couple of times and release the keys and allow the computer to boot normally.

SMC resetting:

Note: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MBP (Early 2009) and later, all models of MBA, and MB (Late 2009).

1. Shut down the computer.

2. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.

3. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.

4. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.

5. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Hope that helps. Good luck with that.
