How to fix signal issue?

Hi,

I had "no service" issue with an iPhone 3gs, I' opened it up and saw the small gold spring on the motherboard placed near the dock was broken,

How do I replace that one?

simple: this spring used to touch the metal frame, using it for an antenna. you have to reconnect the spring with the frame, with a peace of copper soldered to the spring (or something like that). good luck!

just make sure all the contacts are clean first. it doesn't have to look pretty for Ion's advice to work. I've done it before and used the metal piece that holds the camera in place, just bent to make contact with the bezel. worked fine

after successful connecting, smash some glue over it for more drop-resistance.

and jea, doesn't got to look good, its inside, it have to work!

they glued it at the iphone 2g connectors as well, didn't they?

Same Problem for me! Maybe all models of Iphone 3GS are not made to achieve a strong 3G signal or maybe there is a sensitive section in Iphones that breaks easily so most Of Iphones are using in after break lol!

I used the metal piece that holds the camera in place, it has been "searching" for the last 2 hours...

If you have the old connector try that or metal similar to it..
