Samsung 970 EVO upgrade

Hello, I have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) model 11,5 running macOS High Sierra (10.13.6) and I was was thinking of upgrading the internal SSD to a Samsung 970 EVO. Is this SSD compatible with my MacBook Pro? Right now it has a Samsung 960 EVO. Which Samsung SSD’s are compatible to install in my Mac? Thank you.

960 evo and 970 evo are the same size and use the same connector so I can’t see why not. Or you could use a configuration of [produit lié absent ou désactivé : IF123-123] but it would be more expensive so I wouldn’t, 970 evo pro is a similar size and uses the same connector as well so you could use one of those for marginally faster write speeds

The EVO SSD's use a different connector system and are not compatible!

Let me restate it again: The Samsung EVO or PRO SSD's use a different connector than the Apple MacBook Pro's, Apple uses a custom SSD.

Funny how Mac's have become, really, a geeks machine. So complex to repair or upgrade. Unfortunately the user base is, generally, about as far from "geek" as you can get, thus all the MAC questions on this board.

@aactech - It's more of the case Apple thinks and acts differently than the rest ;-}

At one point this made sense as they often did things better! Today it's getting tough for Apple to stand out as most competitors have caught up and in some cases better! Thin & Bling is their focus, so sad the big Performance is no-longer the most important metric! Apple has some good tech that they could leverage to standout again they just keep missing it.
