How do I connect the touchpad ribbon cable to the touchpad board?

Hi Oldturkey, Thank You for you help but I do have the service manual and it does not show which way the ribbons face the board so by trial and error I managed to get them facing the correct way. I do appreciate you help tho.

Oh okay good job in getting it done. Sometimes we get more accomplished by trying it out. Glad you got it done.
Do you remember how you intalled the touchpad ribbon on the motherboard? was there a clip to hold it down? Mine is loose and there is nothing to secure it to the motherboard.
Also, did you have the ribbon end terminals facing up or down?

Joyce, not sure if you are using the service manual for the repair. you can download it from here It does show you how to do the replacement. Just to double check your work.

i have a dv6000 and as many times i clean the fan and all the dust inside. once assmbling it, accidentally caught the touch pad ribbon with one of the screw that goes besides the wifi adaptor. now i cant enter any os that uses mouse, it looks like the touch pad control is burned, keyboard works fine and everythig else works fine, msdos fine, just no windows or linux, they stop boot in the exact moment it have to check for mouse.
what can i do? any body knows? please help.

What computer is it and how did it get disconnected?

This is an HP DV6000. I decided to replace all of the ribbon cable connectors at the same time. I already changed the power button and the quick launch ribbons which work fine. I changed the touchpad ribbon too but when I put it back together the touchpad did not work, even though I downloaded the drivers for the touchpad and keyboard. The keyboard was working fine too when I first started it again. After a short time,(about 1 hour)some of the keyboard buttons quit working. I again took it apart and this tme I faced the ribbon up near the end next to the keyboard connector.On the other end it connects to the touch pad board and I faced it down towards the board. I put it back together and still no luck it does not work. I checked that I downloaded the right drivers which I had. The keyboard is still acting strange, it works fine right after I first plug it in but slowly a few of the letters quit working. The touchpad does not work at all. I will truly appreciate any help in this matter :'). Thank You!
