Installed new battery and new magsafe charger but still not charging?
Hi All,
I don't know what to do anymore.
My old battery now has 1210 cycles! and shows it needs to be replaced now.
I bought new OEM battery and new OEM MagSafe charger but still the battery not charging .
I tried to reset the SMC but still not charging!
The weird thing that when I put may old battery back the MagSafe start charging (orange and green light) but once I put the new battery in nothing happens! No charge, no light, no nothing!
Please can any one help or explain how come the old battery charges and the new one is not.
Thank You
Update (04/05/2019)
Thanks all,
Finally by chance i tried something and now it is working.
I unplugged the battery, plugged in the MagSafe (charging with green color) and while its giving power without battery I plugged the battery back in and suddenly the green light changed to orange and started to charge till Full with green color.
Thanks all for your help.
Still need some help!
I had another issue though, hope you can advise me about it.
I have the original OS (OS-X Snow Leopard ) and was upgraded to OS-X Yosemite long time ago, while I'm preparing the system for my daughter I thought to upgrade to the latest OS-X thats compatible with my Macbookpro5.5 Mid 2009-13”
What I found is OS-X El Capitan so i started to upgrade it through Apple website and while downloading/installing I got an error message that cant be complete with a screen (log file) with a lot of codes, I tried to do it again and again with no luck. and I couldn't go back the previous one (Yosemite), Gladly i have the original CD so I started installing the original one which is “Snow Leopard”
What shall I do to upgrade? What would be the best upgraded OS-X for this system?
I read that some apps are not compatible with El Capitan, I don't know much about this, just want to prepare the system with latest compatible and stable OS
Thank you and sorry for the long message.
Hope to hear from you soon!
thx

So what I did..i plugged the charger without a battery and the MacBook was working perfectly. I inserted the battery and it was charging. Once I put the screws back (specifically the long top-right one) it stops. I noticed that the screw is pushing the cable of the power board (as I replaced it recently) I was able to solve the cable issue, I returned everything and the battery charged again and everything was ok.
but after the battery reached to 0% the charger wouldn't charge again..im totally frustrated ,but I noticed if I removed the charger for a few minutes and then plugged it again the battery start to charge again.
its happening continue sly now. The battery is charging but sometimes the charger doesn't..i wait few minutes ,plug it again and its charging ( nothing wrong with the charger).
I'm confused. Would this be from the battery ( I bought OEM new from ebay with warranty on it) or it might be from the power board? can any one advise ..sorry for the long msg and thank you.

@elagha - There are no real OEM batteries!
Apple does not permit their part suppliers from selling parts independently. Thats not to say OEM parts aren't available by someone taking a new system apart for the parts!
But lets be real here batteries is not one of the parts one is likely to find being resold. What you bought was an aftermarket replacement battery!
So you could have gotten a bad one its also possible your system has other issues as well.
One of the more common issues is a fake MagSafe chargers damaging the charging logic! OEM MagSafe Chargers vs Cheap Imposters: Teardown for Truth. You should also check a real one too!
