[ASUS X750JB] Battery plugged in, not charging after cell replacement

Hello,

My laptop battery died a while ago, after a power outage. Since then, it was not detected by my system, and hovering over the battery icon in windows 10 would show something like '“no battery detected”.

A couple weeks ago, I decided to try to fix this. As I didn’t want to pay for a brand new ewpensive battery and as I wanted to get to the bottom of things I opened my battery and checked the cells. Among the 4 cells, two were completely dead (0V) and two were providing 1.5V,. Therefore, I ordered new ones to replace them. I did that and it seems to provide the correct voltage. When I turned my laptop on, the battery was detected, but was not charging, hovering over the battery icon shows “65% available, not charging”. Also, when I unplug the charger, the computer shuts down, so I guess the battery is detected but not used

I ran a battery report which gave this:

Block Image

I also tried to uninstall and update the battery driver but that was useless.

Of course, I could buy a new complete battery instead but I am afraid that something broke in the MB also, and replacing the battery won’t do much.

Anyone familiar with stuff like this?

Test the fins on your motherboard that goes to your battery. You will have two or three fins that are just a little longer than the rest. These are your grounds. Now, plug in your power adapter and put your black tip, coming from your volt meter, on one of the longer fins then start testing your shorter fins, one at a time, to see if you are getting any voltage. Normally, they should show 2.9v-3.34v each. One of the shorter fins will be dead. This is normal. If you are not getting any voltage or, if you are getting a very high reading(like 18.5v or higher) then there is a problem with your motherboard.

Hope this helps.
