Does the DC in control the power button?
Hello all,
So, Yesterday I went to reapply thermal paste to my CPU and GPU chips. First time doing this but I seemed to successfully take everything apart and put everything back together no problem.
The thing is, I went to power on my system and everything seemed to run except the display itself.
Double checked my LVDS connection and all other connections for that matter. Everything was in properly. I ended up dissassembling and reassebling my system about 3 times very carefully.
By the last time I assembled it I rushed it and accidentally crushed my MagSafe DC In Board wires with the LVDS bracket.
The computer now wont even respond to the power on switch. I suppose my question is, if I plugged my mac in like this (and I did) and the dc input wires shorted out, would this completely fry my logic board?
Battery indicator light still shows charge. Power on button has no respone and I’m hoping it has something to do with the DC in.
Also I did reset in SMC mode. No dice with the screen. Now I can’t retry because my power button wont respond.
Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated because I’m sure Apple would have a field day fixing this and charging top dollar.
DC ins are $16 and LVDS cables are like $30-40, so I suppose I’d rather take my chances and possibly learn something than just pay some “genius”.
Thanks all, hope everyone is enjoying their tech today!!
