Dock USB Ports not working when Switch is in TV mode.

Hello everyone.

Today I realized that all 3 USB ports on the dock are dead. I went online to find out this tends to happen frequently, and apparently all you have to do is power cycle the console and the dock. I followed all the tips, but none worked. Thanks to this, however, I noticed that the USB ports DO provide power, but only when the Switch itself is un-docked! The moment the Switch is docked, all power to the ports is killed off (tested with a USB ampmeter).

My nephew also has a Switch, so I borrowed it to troubleshoot what could be faulty. I tested my Switch on his dock first, with the HORI Ethernet adapter and the Pro controller with its cable, and my Switch had no issues on his dock. I also checked his Switch on my dock, but everything was the same, no power on the ports as long as a Switch is docked. At this point I am sure my dock is faulty. I took it apart to inspect the PCB, but I could see nothing wrong with it. I visually inspected it with a digital microscope, and I checked the capacitors on it. It doesn’t appear to have any shorts. Maybe one of the chips is faulty, but there aren’t any schematics to check and see if anything is out of the ordinary.

The last thing to check was the Power Adapter, but after checking its Output, it seems to work fine (also used my nephew’s to rule out the possibility of a fault). I connected the Switch to a separate power outlet but that didn’t do anything either.

Maybe its a simple fix, or maybe not, but I would rather try and fix this myself than get a new dock. Any ideas of what I could do?

I have the exact same issue and also had no success with the other tips. Any update or solution?

I have the same issue, I have pinpointed the cause of the fault to be a dodgy wired controller but it has affected 2 docks, I suspect there's a USB fuse or such like that's tripped or blown but I can't seem to find what or where to test.

See if the cords are bent. sometimes the tip of cords are bent and will unplug and won’t work. If u did this and all the tips online I would call Nintendo or get a repair done.

I am having the exactly same issue with my Switch.

Before this issue my cooler stopped working and I figure in the internet the diode of the cooler was the issue but it is so small that I end up soldering the cooler direct into the battery with a on and off switch to manually turn on and off it is working good so far this way besides the usb ports issue now.
