Recommendation for an adhesive that doesn't instantly bond?

I am planning on mounting a new 13” LCD panel on a Mid 2014 MBP.

From what I’ve read and seen, you must execute several steps in exact order. If you skip any of them inadvertently, or misalign the panel, you must correct the problem by unmounting the panel. This is the only part of the procedure that terrifies me most as it poses a high risk of cracking an expensive panel.

Are there any double-sided tapes or adhesives available for mounting the LCD which doesn’t instantly form a high strength bond, giving you the ability to align or remove the LCD more easily, if needed?

When I do replace the cover glass panel on the older Unibody’s I use Tesa 61395 Tape As long as you don’t press it down firmly you can still shift the glass if needed. Then, once in place I put a 5 lb weight which presses evenly across the entire surface via a cut piece of plywood covered with felt.

I hope you are not thinking about working on the guts of a Retina display.

Here’s how to replace the display assembly:

I know how to replace the assembly, but I am asking specifically about the adhesive for boding the LCD panel.

I really don't recommend taking the panel apart!

I don't either, but what would you do with a perfectly good LCD panel with a housing in bad condition? Luckily, I removed the lcd without issue, but putting it back on is tricky, since I often skip steps or do them incorrectly.

What I do is slap a hard cover on it: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=macbook+pro+1...

@mayer It's an acceptable solution for a machine for personal use, but for refurbishing for resale, it is less than ideal. Anyway, I have successfully refurbed a dozen of these displays and they're tricky and terrifying at first, but if you're very careful and methodical, it is doable.
