iPhone won't turn on!

I have an iPhone 3G 8GB. Basically the iPhone was accidently run down to 0. Then when I came to turn if back on it woudln't. I've replaced the battery and that hasn't changed anything.

Basically, if I plug in a connector cable that is connected to a USB I get a silver Apple logo appears on screen for a minute or so, then the display disappears apart from a very faint Apple logo (almost like screen burn) until I unplug the cable, then it disappears completely.

If I try and put it into DFU mode, it comes up with the Connect to iTunes graphic. I connect to iTunes, iTunes recognizes a device is in DFU mode. I try and restore but it fails instantly with an Error 23. It then disconnects itself.

Does this sound like this an economical thing to try and fix, seeing as I can get a 2nd hand 16GB for £250?

From what I can tell searching some other forums, etc, it sounds as though your iPhone is bricked. Was your device jailbroken? I found this information which might be helpful:

"I was able to fix error 23 by deleting the backups on my laptop and restoring w/o an existing backup. The problem was one of the backups was corrupted. You can find the backups under the Preferences -> Devices tab in iTunes. But I got error 1011, that is not to bad."

Thanks for your reply Brady. No, the iPhone isn't jailbroken or unlocked. I've tried doing fresh restores on two other computers so I can't see it being a corrupt backup either. So it looks like the iPhone's a goner then!?

Could it simply be that the Logic boards busted? Is there any point in trying anything else? Is there anything else that I could try?

It could indeed be a bad logic board but that would be far from simple. That part is nearly impossible to obtain from a reliable source. Sorry :(

How are you charging it??

charge it from the mains instead of the comp it thats what you are doing and leave it for a good while...should be as simple as that if it wasnt damaged and you just let it go flat!
