Why won’t my camera take photos when using the LCD screen.

Full disclosure, I have a T6 not a T6i. The camera will take photos when looking through the eye lens, but not when it switches to the screen. I’ve tried taking the battery out and resetting the lens and have had no luck. Any suggestions?
