No Power / Not Charging / No MagSafe LED

Ok, got a friends 13” Late 2013 Retina 13” MacBook Pro.

Came to me with no power / wouldn’t start. It would show the “low battery” screen upon pressing the power button and would register the MagSafe being connected when plugged in (it would change from the indicator to insert the charger to the indicator that showed it was charging) but then wouldn’t get any further.

No LED on the MagSafe charger that came with it. “Known good” MagSafe charger of correct wattage gave me an extremely dim green LED.

Ordered and fitted a new battery. The unit powered up and booted - wouldn’t get past 8% of charge - which I am guessing is the capacity that my new battery arrived with. System Profiler reported AC charger was connected but not charging (for both the known good and the unknown Magsafe chargers)

Accidentally left the unit in hibernate for a few days when I awaited the delivery of the new MagSafe DC-IN board. During this time I am guessing that the remaining 8% of battery has discharged (the unit was disconnected from AC but left in hibernate) and i’m now back at square one , after replacing battery and MagSafe DC-IN board with new ones.

Back to nothing but the charging screen - it detects the MagSafe adapter as being connected however there’s no LED on the charger my friend gave me , and a dim green light on my known good MagSafe. Doesn’t seem to actually charge the battery though.

I have tried resetting the SMC countless times - no difference.

Would appreciate any suggestions!!!!

PS: I have a multimeter on hand if anybody can advise me of how to test the MagSafe chargers with/without the DC-IN board attached to see if the necessary voltage is getting to where it should be - you'll have to direct me how to do this though

First lets see if you can clear it by resetting SMC How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac also make sure you are using a real MagSafe charger and its cord or connector is not damaged. Review this Apple T/N Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters & OEM MagSafe Chargers vs Cheap Imposters: Teardown for Truth

If that fails to fix things the charging logic on the main logic board needs repairs or you’ll need to replace the logic board.

Thanks for the reply - tried SMC resets multiple times and I know the charger is fine. Any further information about exactly what I should be checking on a logic board / component level?
