Can I use a black panel to replace the white one on my iPhone?

My iPhone 6 plus currently has a dead screen, but the phone is still working fine. I’m looking into replacement screens and I’m wondering if I am able to use a screen with a black front plate to replace my current screen that has a white front plate. I know the home button can’t be swapped but that’s not a huge deal. I don’t really know why I wouldn’t be able to just use a replacement screen that’s black vs white like it originally was but who knows, maybe there is a hidden incompatibility.
