Random screen flicker 2015 MacBook

I was using my MacBook the other night when the screen started to flicker.

I tried the usual suggested resets, turning it off and on etc but nothing really budged, so I left it it a few hours and it was fine to use for a day or two until tonight when it started flickering again.

Dreading the bill to repair it!

Options

Most of the time resetting the PRAM will solve this issue:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
  3. Hold Down the keys
  4. While holding the keys, press the power button. Technically you don’t need to press them until it turns on, but you need to beat the gray screen, so it will be easier for you to just hold them down from the start. Keep holding.
  5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound (Chime) for the second time.
  6. Release the keys. Your mac is going to start up normally, and most likely the problem will be solved.

Unfortunately not, I’ve tried this and the SCM reset.

When this starts are you going to things that may engage the graphics chip. like YouTube? It could be the switching from integrated to discrete graphics card or graphics card failure?

Begins on startup, the Apple logo will have a vertical band through it.

Try starting in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key on startup to verify this is not a software problem.
