How to remove hard drive?

I don’t have the manual anymore for this computer, but we went with a new pc and I need to make sure our banking data, etc. is gone for good on this old Mac. I unscrewed a plate at the bottom of the unit that had 3 screws in it and all I can see is 2 thin plastic tabs that can be pulled out, but when you pull on them, nothing is moving. Can this be done? I don’t see anywhere else on the body of this where I can open anything. Thanks for any help.

Please look on the bottom of your stand and give us your Axxx number and your EMC number so we know what you have and can advise you.

Hi mayer, I may even have the wrong model, but it looks the most like the one pictured.... The EMC number is 2308. I don't see an Axxx number, but I do see the model number is A1311.

You have a

Great, thanks for that; yes, it's "that" old!

@dedou1 BTW we can probably help you get this machine running for less than $75. and probably $38.64. If you don't need it, I'm sure you know a kid that would love to have it.

@gueser Please learn to get the facts before answering.

@gueser The OP listed this as a iMac Pro to begin with. After reading his question, it was obvious that was not what he had, so I asked for his EMC #.

I then knew what he had. Your answer is totally incorrect. Now the question was about how to destroy his data on a dead machine. Your answer makes no sense in light of the actual problem and machine.

Hey thanks to both of you for your help. I got brave and took off the front glass, then got to work with all those screws. I am sitting here now with a Seagate Barracuda 500 Gbytes drive, and what looked like an SSD as well (I think that's how you say it). All the rest I poked around in and I think I got what would be potentially useful to anyone trying to access my old data. This site is great and I appreciate the quick help. Women weren't taught this stuff when I was in school!
