Top half of iPad touch screen unresponsive when charging
Sometimes when I’m charging my device, the top half of my iPad becomes unresponsive while the bottom half (the side near the charging port) works just fine. However, when I unplug the cord, the top half starts working again.
So far, I have tried to fix it by updating, reinstalling iOS from iTunes, and using a different, cord and brick, both of which I got from the Apple Store. None of this has worked. Any ideas on what’s wrong and how to fix it? Thanks
Notes:
- I use either a 29w Apple brick with the USB C to Lightning cord or a 12w brick with a USB to Lightning (All of which are Apple or MFi certified)
- I have tried restarting the iPad while charging which works for a bit but starts doing it after 5 minutes of charging or so
- The problem stops when I am done charging.

I also have this same exact issue. It’s really annoying as well. It usually happens to me when my device gets hot from playing games or using it for a long time and then charging it. I think the heat radiating from the device makes it difficult for the screen to tell when I’m using it.

Yep, same here on 3 consecutive ipads. Tried 7 or 8 chargers and different cables, but nothing changed. Must be a design flaw. Wonder if some tech found a fix for it …
