New screen doesnt lay flat in bezel

So I’m replacing the LCD on my S7, spent like 5 hours cleaning the adhesive and straightening out the dented corner. The bottom of the screen sits fine in the bezel, but the top of the screen does not lay flat. I can squeeze gently together and it goes flush. I can lay the mid frame on a flat surface and it does not rock, there are no obstructions that I can see. Should I just squish it gently hard after I put the new adhesive back on and put everything back together or is there possibly some hidden problem with the midframe? The brand new back cover lays flat and this is the 2nd LCD that does not lay flat.

Hi @spork

Are you using an adhesive kit that came on your screen? In my experience, this adhesive does not stick like the OEM Samsung adhesive did. You should remove any tape that came on the screen and replace it with TESA tape or Red tape.

For the top of the Galaxy S7, I’ve found that two layers of adhesive will be enough to fill the gap and keep the LCD cable from getting pinched while the bottom should only have one layer so the home button can make it through the screen.

Best of luck finishing this up!

I have not stuck it down yet, the photos are without adhesive. the screen did not come with adhesive, I purchased the pre-cut adhesive "kit" separetly.

If you're getting this gap with no adhesive, either your:

1. Cable is pushing up on the screen and this will fold down completely with adhesive

2. This screen is thicker than your old one and you will need to add the two layers of adhesive to keep the screen stuck down.

There is always the option to send the screen back if you are not happy with the fit

I’ve just found that the OLED part of the screen of my replacement is 3 - 4 times thicker than the one i removed.. causing the screen to sit higher, out of the frame. If i manage to get the glue to bind it flush, the screen will be stressed and likely to crack. Samsung S7..
