I just replaced the charging port in iphone 8, the phone is now turning off when I put phone to ear when making a call. Also the lock button is turning off the phone too. Any idea what I need to do?

The problems you are describing are somewhat generic and could be interpreted as normal functions on the iPhone. We need more details about what specifically the phone is doing that it shouldn’t.

During a phone call it is completely shutting down that it drops call and the screen just has the apple symbol on it. The lock button turns the phone completely off that I have to hold it to turn it back on. I did everything in the steps shown. But unsure what the new issues might be caused by.
Thanks for the info. It sounds like a complicated power draw issue within the logic board itself. Could be from an inbalance somewhere else. Try to disconnect other parts to see if the issue is still there. Try first to disconnect the new charging port and test for the issues. Then try disconnecting other components near the top like the rear camera etc. If you get normal function when something is unplugged, that is your bad component.
