Got a Blackberry Torch 9800 to replace broken screen. All parts functional including LCD. After change, LCD went dim. Reinstalled original and LCD still didn't light up. Rechecked all connections and everything was as it should be. Did a second phone two weeks later, same thing happened. Is it me or the phone?

You may have missed a connection for the backlight, or you may have shorted the circuit. I'd recommend going back through the procedure and making sure absolutely everything is in place.

Check to see that you didn't cover any of the holes with the double-sided adhesive. Dimming of the display could be because you might have covered one of the sensors. Just a thought.

I have had this happen once and the lcd connection was not secured 100%.

Did you ever figure out about your LCD? I just bought a Torch that just has a broken screen. Just curious what you found out before I opened the phone.
